What you’ll do:
FedTech is seeking a Technology & Venture Consultant to support the sourcing, evaluation, and commercialization of emerging technologies across federal, university, and startup ecosystems. This role will work directly with small businesses, inventors, and program stakeholders to conduct technical and market due diligence and help translate early-stage innovation into actionable commercialization pathways. You will contribute to accelerator, venture studio, and advisory programs by conducting rigorous analysis, preparing client-facing deliverables, and managing stakeholder coordination. This position requires strong analytical thinking, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to bridge technical insight with business strategy.
Typical functions include:
- Technology & Market Assessment
- Source and evaluate technologies from federal labs, universities, startups, and industry partners across multiple FedTech programs.
- Conduct technical and commercial due diligence, including competitive landscape analyses, invention disclosure reviews, and assessment of R&D maturity and market potential.
- Interview subject matter experts, researchers, founders, and technical teams to understand core technologies, value propositions, and commercialization pathways.
- Translate complex scientific and engineering concepts into clear, structured evaluations and actionable recommendations.
- Synthesize research findings into commercialization roadmaps that support transition from R&D to market deployment.
- Prepare client-ready reports, presentations, briefing materials, and written deliverables that clearly communicate technical and market insights.
- Program & Stakeholder Support
- Build and maintain relationships with inventors, entrepreneurs, technology transfer offices, government stakeholders, and ecosystem partners.
- Manage multiple workstreams simultaneously, ensuring timely, high-quality delivery across client engagements and programs.
- Identify and implement process improvements, including the thoughtful use of AI-enabled tools and emerging software platforms to increase productivity, quality, and efficiency across analysis and deliverables.
Successful candidates will have the following qualifications:
- Master’s/PhD with 2+ years OR Bachelor’s Degree with 4+ years of experience in consulting, technology commercialization, venture advisory, technology transfer, innovation programs, or a related professional environment.
- Background in STEM, engineering, life sciences, physical sciences, or a related technical field, with the ability to understand and evaluate complex technical concepts.
- Basic familiarity with the federal innovation ecosystem, particularly SBIR/STTR programs and non-dilutive funding mechanisms; experience within the DoW SBIR ecosystem is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct structured research, synthesize disparate information, and translate technical analysis into clear business recommendations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing reports, presentations, and leading client calls or stakeholder briefings.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work on tight timelines.
- Entrepreneurial orientation and intellectual curiosity, with a strong interest in technology commercialization and national innovation priorities.
- Demonstrated interest in leveraging AI tools and emerging technologies to improve research, analysis, workflow efficiency, and overall program execution.

Compensation:
- Base salary range: $85-100k
- The salary range listed for this position is based on market data and internal compensation structure. The final compensation package will be determined based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills and education. This range is not a guarantee of compensation, and offers may fall outside this range in exceptional cases.
- In addition to the base salary, compensation includes performance based bonus (OTE) and ability to earn equity

Location: The position can be set up as a hybrid work arrangement in either of the following locations:
- 3 days in person at our headquarters in Arlington, VA, and 2 days remote
- 2 days in person at our office in Boston, MA and 3 days remote
