What you’ll do:
FedTech is looking for a Senior Manager, Technology Partnerships to lead a team sourcing and evaluating emerging technologies, drive business development efforts, and serve as a technology transfer subject matter expert across a broad range of FedTech program delivery and growth initiatives. This role combines hands-on technology transfer expertise with team management and client-facing business development responsibilities. The successful candidate will oversee resources, workflows, and program execution while actively cultivating new partnerships and revenue opportunities with federal labs, universities, startups, and industry partners. This position will build and manage technology pipelines that drive measurable commercialization outcomes and lasting impact across industries and national security missions.
Typical functions include:
- Portfolio Management
- Lead the Technology Partnerships team in sourcing, due diligence, and market research across multiple FedTech programs.
- Coordinate multi-program technology scouting pipelines, ensuring alignment with program priorities, timelines, and market trends.
- Engage with inventors, entrepreneurs, and companies to evaluate technologies, R&D strategies, and commercialization potential.
- Translate technical insights into actionable narratives that inform program decisions and commercialization pathways.
- Review and approve team assessments, technology briefs, market analyses, and strategy deliverables.
- Monitor technology and innovation trends to guide scouting priorities and support FedTech strategy.
- Facilitate cross-program collaboration to improve efficiency and leverage shared tools, data, and resources.
- Team Leadership & People Management
- Directly manage and develop a team of technology analysts and associates, setting clear goals, conducting performance reviews, and ensuring accountability across projects.
- Provide mentorship and training to support team growth in technical analysis, market research, and stakeholder engagement.
- Manage team workload allocation, resource planning, and hiring as the team scales.
- Help identify and coordinate professional development opportunities to strengthen team capabilities.
- Financial & Operational Management
- Maintain accountability for knowledge management systems, ensuring consistent capture and sharing of sourcing data and best practices.
- Address critical program challenges and ensure timely, high-quality delivery of client-facing outputs.
- Business Development & Growth
- Support the development and maintenance of relationships with federal labs, universities, startups, corporations, investors, accelerators, and industry groups.
- Contribute to proposals, client presentations, and other growth initiatives to help expand FedTech’s impact.
Successful candidates will have the following qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in technology transfer, IP commercialization, or innovation program environments, with at least 3 years in a team management or leadership role.
- Demonstrated expertise in technology transfer, licensing, and IP commercialization in federal, university, or corporate settings, including familiarity with mechanisms such as CRADAs, license agreements, and inter-institutional partnerships.
- Strong understanding of innovation ecosystems, including federal labs, universities, startups, and corporate IP management and venture arms.
- P&L and budget management experience, leveraging financial oversight to optimize resources and drive organizational impact
- Proven program management ability, including oversight of project-level finances, coordination of multi-phase initiatives, and experience managing multiple direct reports.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and programs.
- Familiarity with non-dilutive funding mechanisms (e.g., SBIR/STTR, CRADAs) is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical insights into actionable program guidance.

Compensation:
- Base salary range: $112-130k
- The salary range listed for this position is based on market data and internal compensation structure. The final compensation package will be determined based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills and education. This range is not a guarantee of compensation, and offers may fall outside this range in exceptional cases.
- In addition to the base salary, compensation includes performance based bonus (OTE) and ability to earn equity

Location: This position is open to candidates from Arlington (VA), Boston (MA), Los Angeles (CA) and Austin (TX)
- Arlington, VA & Boston, MA: Hybrid schedule
- Los Angeles, CA & Austin, TX: Remote, with occasional in-person meetings required
