What you’ll do: 

FedTech is growing into the world’s leading deep tech innovation platform - in 2024, we’re on track to build 50+ new ventures from scratch around federal IP and accelerate 150+ established startups, along with directly supporting the United States’ R&D innovation engine. As we scale our venture building capabilities, we are looking to have greater regional impact in leading innovation ecosystems. Our initial focuses will be related to national security, aerospace and clean tech-related technologies. 

You’ll be leading a growing DoD and Navy portfolio that spans across innovation programs, staffing management, and strategy. Your responsibilities will include metrics such as business growth, people management, and partnership engagement across our community, bringing together a vast network of entrepreneurs, inventors, industry professionals, investors, and other strategic partners.

Typical work includes:

  • Planning, resourcing, and helping execute across 7+ programs and initiatives -including cohort-based programs such as accelerator program for deep tech startups. This includes actively managing the program's budgets, project plans and programs, and client relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders. Familiarity with government contracts and program planning is a strong plus. 
  • Managing the team responsible for the day-to-day operations of FedTech’s innovation programming, client and stakeholder relations.
  • Being a project manager for high-profile projects and meetings (includes help lead public facing engagements and leading backend operations).
  • Managing team members Participating in professional development activities such as training, mentorship, and networking.
  • Developing and executing a strategic plan to catalyze the innovation ecosystem through FedTech’s innovation programming (Accelerator, Internal Innovation, and Startup Studio).
  • Consulting and advising local entrepreneurs on potential partnerships and opportunities for SMEs in the DoD/Navy space. 
  • Utilizing creative outreach methods, including various social media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.), and a relationship-based approach to help entrepreneur or startup recruitment for current programs.
  • Organizing regular community engagement events to bring together innovators, entrepreneurs, industry leaders, and investors.

Successful candidates will have the following qualifications:

  • 8+ years of venture growth, project, program, and/or operational management experience
  • 3+ years of direct innovation programming experience, including facilitating researcher trainings, incubation services, startup studios or accelerator programs
  • Proven track record of successful planning, execution and operating complex programs
  • Proven track record of business development for existing and new clients 
  • Knowledge of the DoD/Navy innovation landscape including the national laboratories, DOD stakeholders. 
  • Natural connector who builds strong relationships across a diverse group of roles easily
  • Focus on detail and on-time delivery – a well-rounded project manager
  • Experience with various CRM and relationship management tools
  • Curious, empathetic, and methodical, but comfortable in a fast-paced environment 
  • A deep-tech enthusiast. Experience with national security, aerospace or clean tech is an important plus
  • Medium to expert level in Excel and other MS Office software. Must be tech-savvy
  • Relentlessly action-driven (testing, measuring, iterating) and self-directed

Compensation: 

  • Base salary range - $125-140k based on education and experience
  • Ability to earn upside bonus and equity, rapid career progression

Location: We are open to candidates from Southern California, Austin, TX, and Arlington, VA (our headquarters is located in Arlington, VA, where we offer a hybrid work schedule - three days in person at our Arlington office and two days remote)

Travel: Ability and willingness to travel domestically is required (15-20%).
