What you’ll do:
FedTech is seeking a Head of Technology Partnerships to lead a team and serve as the organization’s subject matter expert in technology transfer and IP commercialization. This position will oversee technology sourcing, technical diligence, and commercialization strategy across programs, guiding a team that works closely with inventors, institutional partners, and emerging ventures. The role will manage technology pipelines, advising on licensing and partnership pathways, and representing FedTech externally as a trusted voice in innovation and IP
Key Responsibilities
- Portfolio & Program Leadership
- Lead the Technology Partnerships team in sourcing, due diligence, and market research across FedTech programs.
- Oversee multi-program technology scouting pipelines, ensuring alignment with client priorities, program timelines, and market trends.
- Engage directly with inventors, entrepreneurs, and companies to evaluate technologies, R&D strategies, and commercialization potential.
- Translate technical insights into actionable narratives to guide program decisions and commercialization pathways.
- Review and approve team deliverables, including technology briefs, market analyses, and commercialization strategies.
- Track technology and innovation trends to inform scouting priorities and FedTech strategy.
- Facilitate cross-program collaboration to maximize efficiency and leverage shared data, tools, and resources.
- Team Leadership & Development
- Manage a team of technology analysts and associates, setting clear goals, monitoring progress, and ensuring accountability.
- Provide mentorship and professional development in technical analysis, market research, and stakeholder engagement.
- Allocate resources effectively and support hiring as the team grows.
- Business Development & Ecosystem Growth
- Build and maintain partnerships with federal labs, universities, startups, corporations, investors, accelerators, and industry groups.
- Contribute to proposals, client presentations, and strategic initiatives to expand FedTech’s impact and revenue opportunities.
- Financial & Operational Oversight
- Maintain accountability for knowledge management and program data systems, ensuring consistent documentation and sharing of best practices.
- Manage project-level budgets and ensure high-quality, timely delivery of client-facing outputs.
Successful candidates will have the following qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in technology transfer, IP commercialization, or innovation program environments, including at least 3 years in a team management or leadership role
- Prior experience moving technologies from federal, university, or corporate labs into the market and aligning technical evaluation with strong market positioning to drive meaningful commercialization outcomes.
- Strong knowledge in technology transfer, licensing, and IP commercialization in federal, university, or corporate settings, including familiarity with mechanisms such as CRADAs, license agreements, and inter-institutional partnerships.
- Strong understanding of innovation ecosystems, including federal labs, universities, startups, and corporate IP management and venture arms.
- P&L and budget management experience, leveraging financial oversight to optimize resources and drive organizational impact
- Proven program management ability, including oversight of project-level finances, coordination of multi-phase initiatives, and experience managing multiple direct reports.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and programs.
- Familiarity with non-dilutive funding mechanisms (e.g., SBIR/STTR, CRADAs) is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical insights into actionable program guidance.

Compensation:
- Base salary range: $120-140k
- The salary range listed for this position is based on market data and internal compensation structure. The final compensation package will be determined based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills and education. This range is not a guarantee of compensation, and offers may fall outside this range in exceptional cases.
- In addition to the base salary, compensation includes performance based bonus (OTE) and ability to earn equity

Location: Hybrid work arrangement (3 days in person at our headquarters in Arlington, VA, and 2 days remote).
