FedTech is an innovation-focused organization dedicated to commercializing breakthrough technologies and building dual-use ventures from federal R&D. As we expand our platform, we’re launching a new commercial innovation practice and seeking a dynamic, entrepreneurial leader to build and grow this initiative.

What you’ll do:
As the Vice President of Corporate Innovation, you will lead the development and execution of a new commercial innovation practice. This role is at the intersection of strategy, client development, team building, and integration - designed for someone who thrives on building from the ground up and scaling thoughtfully. You'll work closely with FedTech's senior leadership to shape offerings, drive business growth, integrate acquisitions, and build a high-performing team.
Typical functions include:
- Launch and lead a new commercial innovation practice that complements and extends FedTech’s core government and venture-building services. Achieve revenue and margin targets each year that are set by the CEO.
- Develop and refine offerings that attract commercial and government clients—such as expanding upon core offerings of tech scouting, venture creation, and innovation training.
- Work with the executive team to identify and integrate acquisitions of commercial services firms, aligning service offerings, processes, and cultures between FedTech and acquired entities.
- Partner with the growth team to drive business development through client engagement, pilot conversions and account expansion
- Integrate existing FedTech offerings into the corporate market, collaborating closely with various levels of the organization.
- Serve as a thought leader and internal champion for innovation best practices, staying informed of trends and emerging approaches across industries.
Successful candidates will have the following qualifications:
- 15+ years of experience building and scaling innovation consulting or venture development practices, ideally within a startup, consulting firm, or R&D-driven environment
- Strong understanding of the corporate innovation landscape, including common challenges, needs, and buying behavior of innovation teams.
- Experience leading or contributing to acquisition integrations (e.g., consulting, design, or prototyping firms).
- Exceptional ability to synthesize complex services into clear, compelling offerings.
- Experience managing P&L, with a focus on driving company-level revenue growth and margin performance
- Proven ability to lead, develop and scale high-performing teams
- A collaborative, adaptable leadership style with the ability to manage ambiguity and align stakeholders.
- Passion for innovation, applied technology, and supporting dual-use commercialization.
- Experience in business development and sales execution, from identifying leads to closing high-impact engagements.
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

Compensation:
- Base salary range: $200-230k per year
- The salary range listed for this position is based on market data and internal compensation structure. The final compensation package will be determined based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills and education. This range is not a guarantee of compensation and offers may fall outside this range in exceptional cases.
- In addition to a competitive base salary, compensation includes significant upside bonus and equity.

Location: This role offers flexible work options. It can be set up as a hybrid work arrangement at our Arlington, VA (HQ) or Boston, MA offices or fully remote for candidates based in the United States.
Travel: Willingness and ability to travel up to 15–20% as needed
